Glossary of Common ALLIES Terms
- holding library
- the library that owns the item to be borrowed
- Example: An Auburn University patron finds a book they want to request at Jacksonville State University. Jacksonville State University is the holding library.
- home library
- the library where the patron is affiliated
- Example: A student enrolls in classes and gets an ID card at Auburn University. Auburn University is the patron's home library.
- pickup library
- the library from which the patron requests an item to be delivered for
pickup
- Example: An Auburn University student requests an item from Jacksonville State University. He specifies that he wants to pickup the item at Jacksonville State University. Jacksonville State University is the pickup library.
- visited library
- the library where a remote request is placed or where an item is returned
- Example: An Auburn University student visits Jacksonville State University to search their catalog. Jacksonville State University is the visited library.
