Glossary of Common ALLIES Terms

holding library
the library that owns the item to be borrowed
Example:  An Auburn University patron finds a book they want to request at Jacksonville State University.  Jacksonville State University is the holding library.
home library
the library where the patron is affiliated
Example: A student enrolls in classes and gets an ID card at Auburn University.  Auburn University is the patron's home library.
pickup library
the library from which the patron requests an item to be delivered for pickup
Example: An Auburn University student requests an item from Jacksonville State University.  He specifies that he wants to pickup the item at Jacksonville State University.  Jacksonville State University is the pickup library.
visited library
the library where a remote request is placed or where an item is returned
Example:  An Auburn University student visits Jacksonville State University to search their catalog.  Jacksonville State University is the visited library.
