Historical or Biographical Sketch:
The Auburn University Theatre is Alabama's oldest university stage company. Founded in 1913, the Theatre Department has grown into an integral part of Auburn University, with an accent on professionalism in instruction and performance.

Both the performing arts and the education aspects of the AU Theatre are encompassed by the Department of Theatre, which is in the School of Fine Arts within the College of Liberal Arts.

Scope and Content:
Collection primarily consists of of items relating to the Theatre Department of Auburn University and the Auburn Players from 1929 to 1993. Contains playbills, photographs, slides, posters and clippings relating to plays presented by the Auburn Players. Includes departmental records, program announcements, scrapbooks, scirpts, set and costume designs along with other miscellaneous ephemera.
