Historical or Biographical Sketch:
Robert S. Parker was one of the first County Agents appointed under the Smith-Lever Act of 1914. He began his career in Chambers County, Alabama in 1914, and in 1915 moved to Lowndes County, Alabama. He was a prolific writer who pioneered the use of newspapers to get his farm improvement message to rural people.
Scope and Content:
The bulk of material is a scrapbook of newspaper articles written by Robert S. Parker in 1915 and 1916, concerning agricultural matters in Alabama. Included is a drainage survey for the Letohatchee valley of Lowndes County, Alabama made in 1918.
