Historical or Biographical Sketch:
Joseph L. Whitten was the county historian for the St. Clair Historical Society in Asheville, Alabama. He is the author of several local and county histories along with publications on genealogical resources in St. Clair County.
Scope and Content:
Consists of photocopies of transcripts of oral history interviews conducted in 1990 and 1991 discussing the history of Odenville, Alabama in St. Claire County with people who resided in the community for several decades. Those interviewed include: Claude Robison, Myrtle Maddox Kenney, Rosa Lee Byers Ash, Ash Scoggins, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Steed, Mildred Coker McCullough, Electa Vandergrift Stevenson, Nancy Wilson, Huston and Lylola (Turner) Pyles, Delgan Ash, Saraharte Watson Byers, E. E. Moree, and Ann Riddle Burton.
