Historical or Biographical Sketch:
Frank J. Dudley, a Columbus, Georgia, architect, may have submitted plans in 1887 for a proposed building for the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama, now Auburn University. However, no evidence seems to support this theory. The design selected was by Bruce and Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia. The building, Samford Hall, was completed in 1888 and serves as Auburn's administration building. No further information could be located on Dudley.

Scope and Content:
Consists of proposed design and floor plans for the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) Main Building (presently Samford Hall) by Frank J. Dudley. Includes plans, evaluations and details for the residence of P. H. Mell of Auburn.
