Historical or Biographical Sketch:
The Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Opelika, Alabama was constituted as a church on February 20, 1843. The church first met in a small round log house, situated just a few miles from its present location. A log church was built in 1844. In 1852, a new church was constructed where the present church's resides to replace the old log church. The Mount Olive Baptist Church continues to be an active church in the Opelika community.
Scope and Content:
Consists of bound minutes of the Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Opelika, Alabama and congregations absorbed by the church. The first five Mt. Olive minute books (1843-1906) were copied into the final volume, which covers from 1843-1976. Includes minute books from Bainbridge Baptist Church, Whatleys Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church, all formerly of Opelika.
