Historical or Biographical Sketch:
William Francis Johnston Jr. was the son of a prominent lawer from Anniston, Alabama. He attended the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) during the spring of 1899 as a "Special and Irregular Student" (see 1898-1899 school catalog). He believed to have returned to Anniston later that spring.

Scope and Content:
Consist of a photocopy of William Francis Johnston Jr.'s Diary covering the period of March 16 through April 24, 1899 when he was a student at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University). It contains information about student life on campus and information about the city of Auburn, Alabama.
