Historical or Biographical Sketch:
Auburn University Dames Club was founded on February 13, 1946 as the local affiliate of the National Association of University Dames which was organized in 1921 in Chicago, Illinois. The purpose of the organization was to "establish and strengthen bonds of friendship among Auburn university student wives", develop special interests of its members, and make "student wives feel that they are an integral part" of the university. The club presented educational programs for wives of male students, performed local charity work, conducted fashion shows, and arranged various social gatherings on and off campus.

Scope and Content:
Contains copies of the Dames Club constitution, internal correspondence to club members, handwritten minutes, and scrapbooks containing photographs and newspaper clippings about club activities.
