Biographical Sketch: Rea, a Georgia native, graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1842. He practiced medicine in Greensboro, Georgia, until 1852, when he moved to LaFayette, Alabama. During the Civil War, he served as a Confederate surgeon. He returned to LaFayette after the war and practiced medicine in Chambers County.
