Scope / Content: Letters (1852-72) to Jennie Williamson Jones from family and school friends, including her mother and her cousin, James W. Mitchell, who moved to Texas in the late 1850's; letters (1861-65) from Logan Williamson, including letters (1863-65) written from prisoner-of-war camps in Pittsburg, Point Lookout (Maryland) and Fort Delaware; business correspondence (1849-72) of Madison P. Jones; and miscellaneous Jones and Williamson family letters (1844-1901).
Biographical Sketch: Virginia H. (Jennie) Williamson, daughter of Thomas and Tabitha R. Williamson of Robertson County, Tennessee, married Nashville merchant Madison P. Jones in 1859. Her brother, James Logan Williamson, enlisted in the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Regiment in 1861. He was an officer when he was taken prisoner in July 1863. He was paroled in March 1865.
