Biographical
Sketch: Nelson Stillwell was from Pennsylvania and attended basic
training at Keesler Field, Mississippi, where he was a private in the 301st
Squadron. He was then stationed in Illinois, Washington D.C., and
Atlantic City, NJ, before being transferred to England with the Supply
Division Army Air Corps 24th Squadron, where he was promoted to
sergeant. Ralph Summers, Leonard’s brother, was a private stationed in
Denver, CO, with the Army Air Corps 10th Squadron. He then
travels throughout the South before being transferred to India with the 8th
Airborne Squadron
Scope / Content: Contains correspondence that Nelson Stillwell and Ralph
Summers, who both served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, wrote to Grace
and Leonard Summers
