Scope / Content: Copies of letters (1887-94) from Mosby to Marcus J. Wright, a former Confederate general who helped to compile "The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies," concerning Mosby's papers, wartime controversies, and his writing about his guerrilla operations. Handwritten transcripts

Biographical Sketch: Mosby commanded a battalion of Confederate partisan rangers operating in Virginia during the Civil War. After the war, he had a successful career as a lawyer and diplomat, and authored several books and articles about the war.
