Scope / Content: Collection consists of Arant's personal papers related to family and civic activities, materials covering his academic career and entomology work, teaching and research materials, and military service memorabilia. Series include: 1. Personal Papers; 2. Academic Career; and 3. Military Service.  Collection arranged into three accessions depending upon the time that materials came to the Auburn University Archives and Manuscripts Department.

Biographical Sketch: F.S. Arant was a native of Alabama who attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University), then received his Ph.D. in entomology from Iowa State University in 1937. After military service, 1942-46, where he worked in public health and sanitation, Arant taught at API and served as the head of the Department of Zoology-Entomology, 1949-1975.
