| Supplementing the standard drums as noisemakers at this
uptown pep rally in about 1905-07 were at least one dishpan, a metal lid,
water buckets, several washtubs, king-sized drumsticks, unidentified horns,
and a variety of megaphones. Who knows what was in the barrel!
Nearly everybody wore a hat or a cap. Peering from under a derby
third from far right, back row, is football coach Mike Donahue. The
people looked serious, but they undoubtedly livened up again once the picture
