| The number of coeds almost doubled in 1922 and totaled sixty-seven,
helping lead to the chartering of the first API sorority, Kappa Delta.
Original KD initiates were, left to right: Lysbeth Fullan, Kate Floyd,
Camille Dowell, Anita Patterson, Emily Hare, Dorothy Anderson, and Lillian
Sharpley. They were installed at the President's Mansion. One
initiate, Camille Dowell, was the daughter of college President Spright
Dowell. Later in the school year, a chapter of Chi Omega also was
formed. -- Photo: Mary George Lamar |
