| Governor Bibb Graves inspected the ROTC unit on Governor's
Day in the late 1920s at what is now Ross Square. At left was Alumni
Gym. Graves also was on hand in 1930 for the dedication of Bullard
Field, used for ROTC drill and intramural football and softball until five
women's dorms were built there in 1952. The dedication honored former
Auburn student and World War I hero Robert Lee Bullard. The field
was also used for polo during the decade leading up to World War II when
the Army had horse drawn artillery units at API. -- Photo: Leonard W. Thomas |
