| Benson's Drug Store, a few doors north of the Auburn Grille,
remained open late on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the hungry during
intermission of college dances. Virtually all of the customers in
this picture hurried to Benson's during the break in a 1940 midterm dance.
Note the metal shakers on the table. The milk shakes they contained
cost a dime. Sandwiches, unless you wanted something fancy, were
fifteen cents. The ham and cheese was twenty cents and the club a
quarter. -- Photo: AU Archives |
