| The traditional Wreck Tech Pajama Parade came to an end
in 1987 along with the annual Auburn-Georgia Tech football game.
For decades, the band served as the vanguard for pajama-clad students and
those bearing sorority and fraternity floats on a journey through the business
district and across campus to a mass meeting in the stadium. Dogs
have always been a part of any parade in Auburn, but the pup wearing a
diaper in this scene from the late 1950s was a true crowd pleaser.
Auburn and Tech had met ninety times on the gridiron starting in 1892.
Auburn had won sixteen of the last nineteen games when the series ended,
but earlier the Yellow Jackets won thirteen consecutive times. Tech
officials said in terminating the series that the Jackets needed to concentrate
on games with their Atlantic Coast Conference foes. -- Photo: Lee County
