Date Span: 1863-1865
Biographical Sketch: Snedeker enlisted in Company H, 124th Illinois Infantry Regiment, in August, 1862. He was mustered out, with the rank of Sergeant, in August, 1865.
Scope / Content: Typescript of diary (May 1863-May 1865), describing the regiment's service in the Vicksburg and Meridian, Mississippi campaigns. The regiment was stationed at Vicksburg until March, 1865, when it was transferred to Fort Gaines, Alabama and participated in the Mobile campaign.
