The Auburn University Libraries offer course-integrated instruction for AU undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction and in the College of Veterinary Medicine should contact the appropriate branch librarian for information about library instruction. We ask that faculty in other Colleges comply with the following policies so that we can provide your students with high quality instruction, delivered in an effective manner.
SCHEDULING
Instruction sessions should be scheduled at least one week in advance to allow sufficient time for dialogue between faculty and librarians and for preparation of instruction that is relevant to each class. To request a library instruction session:
Classes will be held in one of RBD Library's instruction labs unless otherwise stated. Professors are required to attend these sessions along with their students in order to assist during group activities. The Library's instruction labs are for instruction involving a library research component, with a librarian teaching the class.
CUSTOMIZING INSTRUCTION
Librarians will tailor presentations to individual class needs. It is especially important for students to have an assignment requiring information resource use in order for them to receive the full benefit of attending a library instruction session. If you would like a discipline-specific session, discuss your needs with the Instruction Coordinator or a Library Subject Specialist in order to develop activities and presentations tailored to the coursework.
A librarian will contact you by e-mail (phone or campus mail, if e-mail is not available) within two weekdays to notify you of the date and time that your class has been scheduled. If you need to cancel or change the date/time of the instruction session, please contact the Instruction Coordinator or the librarian assigned to teach the class as soon as possible.
