Mission Statement

The Cataloging Department of the Auburn University Libraries performs cataloging, classification and subject analysis of owned, leased or otherwise accessible information resources to facilitate access for library users through the online public access catalog and associated data files. As part of its mission, the Department works with Acquisitions and Systems in the loading and editing of cataloging records, including providing training and technical advice. It assists in formulating ecifications for contracting vendor services and may monitor compliance. It provides training and orientation opportunities in cataloging for all personnel in the Libraries. It supports the mission of the Libraries by providing personnel for the reference, service, and information desks and by providing other services as needed.
