eResources Statement
eResources Acceptable Use Policy
Most of the resources listed on the eJournals,
eBooks and eDatabases
pages and other eResources cataloged in AUBIECat
are subject to a variety of restrictions relating to access and use. Many
of these eResources are available off campus via authentication passwords
(Library ID).
These restrictions serve to limit usage to Auburn University -Auburn
faculty, staff, and students as required by license agreements with the
publishers and/or vendors. The main exception to this restriction permits
in-library access for non-Auburn University - Auburn affiliated
individuals.
Most of the publishers/vendors impose restrictions on how the information
in their products can be used. Downloading excessive portions of an
eResource is usually prohibited and may be subject to a violation of U.S.
Copyright Law. Electronic redistribution of information is also
subject to restriction. For example, posting material downloaded from AU
Libraries' eResources to an electronic discussion list or bulletin board
would be considered by most publishers/vendors to violate the license
agreements that allow us academic access. Most of the database producers
(e.g., Westlaw, ScienceDirect) also prohibit using their products for
commercial purposes. Violations of these terms could lead to a loss of
access for the entire Auburn community.
Most eResources include more detailed information about these
restrictions. If you have any concerns about your intended use of these
resources, please contact the AU
Libraries' eResources Management Team.
