Philip Henry Gosse: A Naturalist's View of Dallas County, Alabama, in 1838

British naturalist and insect watercolor artist extraordinaire Philip Henry Gosse, who, in 1838, lived ever so briefly in Dallas County, Ala. Mullen, who's in his 32nd year as an Auburn University entomologist, currently is conducting in-depth research on Gosse, uncovering facts that he eventually will use to pen a biography recounting Gosse's early years. His Thursday presentation is part of the Discover Auburn Lecture Series, cosponsored by the Auburn University Libraries, Auburn University Bookstore and the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities.
