Our Mission

The Digital Resource Laboratory (DRL) at RBD Library is designed to help Auburn University students, faculty, and staff use multimedia materials in their class assignments and course projects. It does this by providing access to the latest multimedia hardware and software, together with the on-site technical expertise needed to use these resources to best advantage. The DRL is committed to serving the multimedia technology needs of Auburn University students and faculty in all academic disciplines.

How You Can Use the DRL

You can use the DRL to do digital video editing, digital audio editing, graphics layout and design, analog-to-digital conversions, CD and DVD authoring, image scanning, build music scores and play them back, create and print posters, etc. If its a digital project, we'll help you find a way to do it. We have a full-time staff and highly knowledgeable student assistants on hand to assist you.

You must be a member of the Auburn campus community with a valid OIT login and password.

Scanning

The DRL is equipped with several types of scanners: ten flatbed scanners that will do 8.5x11 up to 13x19 inch copy, a Nikon CoolScan film and slide scanner, and a 36", wide format scanner. One flatbed scanner is equipped with a transparency adapter that also does odd format negative film. Another flatbed is equipped with a sheet feeder for quickly scanning multi-page documents. The flatbeds are also equipped with optical character recognition (OCR) software for capturing text to a text editor.
