What is the purpose of the Library Research Advisory Committee (LRAC)?

    The Library Research Advisory Committee's purpose is to provide assistance to library faculty in conducting research through funding research-related expenses and referral to persons with expertise in research.

     

Who is eligible for LRAC assistance?

    Any member of the Auburn University Libraries faculty.

     

How much funding is available?

    Funding is limited by an annual budget.

     

How can I apply to the LRAC for assistance?

    Click on the Funding Request Form hotlink on the LRAC homepage. Fill it out online and submit it electronically.

     

Does the LRAC fund travel expenses?

    LRAC funds travel only for the purposes of conducting research. Untenured librarians are alloteed $1,500/year for professional travel which includes presenting research. Tenured librarians receive $1,000/year.

     

What else gets funded by the LRAC?

    Research-related costs such as: online fee based searching: software the library does not own; mass mailing, phoning or photocopying; clerical support charges. Occassional photocopying, phoning or mailing can be done without submitting an LRAC request.

     

How long does it take to get LRAC funding?

    Normally, LRAC funding requests are reviewed within a few days of submission. Urgent proposals will be reviewed as soon as possible.

     

Does the L.R.A.C. provide any guidance for conducting research?

    The LRAC has maintained a "human resource list" of persons who can provide advice on research ideas, computer software packages, editing, statistical methods, etc.
