SURVEY OF INCOME AND PROGRAM PARTICIPATION, Full Panel Longitudinal Files
C 3.275:SU7/
Bureau of the Census 1987, 1988The sipp survey is designed to provide detailed information on the economic situation of households and persons in the United States. These data examine the distribution of income, wealth, and poverty in American society and gauge the effects of federal and state programs on the well-being of families and individuals. There are three basic elements contained in the survey. The first is a control card that records basic social and demographic characteristics for each person in a household, as well as changes in such characteristics over the course of the interviewing period. The second element is the core portion of the questionnaire, with questions repeated at each interview on labor force activity, types and amounts of income, participation in various cash and noncash benefit programs, attendance in postsecondary schools, private health insurance coverage, public or subsidized rental housing, low-income energy assistance, and school breakfast and lunch participation. The third element consists of topical modules, which are series of supplemental questions asked during selected household visits.

COUNTY-TO-COUNTY MIGRATION FLOW FILES
C 3.284:CD 90-MIG-01;02
Bureau of the Census (Jan 1995)Item: 154-F-3 95-010-E
SubTitle:Special Project 312
The County to County Migration CD set houses data on migration between 1985 and 1990. The data are compiled using information from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing. As part of the 1990 Census, respondents were asked where they lived in 1985. Using the 1985 and 1990 residences reported by the respondents we can tabulate the number of persons who moved from any one place to another between these years. The County to County Migration data is based on such tabulations.
The CD set consists of two CD-Roms. One CD-Rom is labelled "In-Migration" while the other is labelled "Out-Migration". Both include the software for viewing data. However the data stored on each CD is different. The difference is in the direction of movement represented by the data. For the "In-Migration" disk destination is first chosen and the data on people moving into that area can be viewed, including their origin can be viewed. For the "Out-Migration" disk a origin is chosen and then data on the people moving out, including their destination can be viewed.
