Beginning with the Spring Quarter 1996, the Auburn University Libraries
will initiate a policy of rewarding serving student employees who perform
above job standards with a increase in their per hour wage. Each Spring
Quarter all student employees with at least one year of employment at the
Libraries will be evaluated with this in mind. Those
student employees who receive above average and outstanding evaluations
based upon their job performance will be granted wage increases varying
from $0.05 to $0.25 per hour. The wage increase will become effective
on October 1st of the same year as the evaluation. For the first
evaluation period (Spring Quarter 1996) all wage increases
recommended will be $0.25 per hour. A formal evaluation
form will be used.
The job performance of student employees is constantly reviewed by
both the Department's Student Employee Supervisor and all other members
of the faculty and staff of the Department and counseling offered to
those found deficient in one or more components of their assigned duties
and tasks. Until recently, student employees performing above job
standards could only be rewarded with words of praise and a "pat on the
back" for a job well done.
