Known as NESE, this database provides text and statistical information on national, social, economic, and environmental topics compiled by the federal government. Use the "Source" option to find U.S. Dept. of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics section to find statistics on youth gangs and crime. Particularly useful is "School Crime" (1993) based on a 1989 survey of 21,600,000 students age 12-19.
