The first floor houses two large distinct collections. The Microforms Collection contains 2.4 million pieces in the form of microfilm, microfiche, microcard, and microprint. The two most heavily used microform collections are the Newspaper Collection on Microfilm and the Periodicals Collection on Microfilm. The Documents Collection contains 1.6 million federal publications received by the Libraries as a result of its participation in the Federal Depository Library Program. There are two service points within the area: the Reference and Information Desk and the Microform Service Desk. Patrons with questions or problems related to microforms can seek assistance at the Microforms Service Desk. There is a separate circulation point for checking out federal publications.
