Auburn University Libraries welcomes you as a new student employee. As a Library Student Assistant employee you will make a difference! It is understood that your primary goal at Auburn University is to acquire an education; however, the job that you have taken at the Auburn University Libraries requires the responsibility of working at assigned times and putting forth the effort to do the best job possible. Establishing good work habits now will be an asset in the future and will help to ensure a good reference for potential career opportunities.

In addition to the information provided in this manual, individual units, departments, and branch libraries within the Auburn University Libraries may have other procedures. Library student assistant employees are obligated to follow these basic guidelines and any policies/procedures specific to their unit, department, or branch library.

About Auburn University Libraries

The Auburn University Libraries include the Ralph Brown Draughon Library (the main library also known as the RBD Library); the Library of Architecture, Design and Construction (Dudley Hall Commons in the Fine Arts Complex), and the Charles Allen Cary Veterinary Medicine Library (Greene Hall, College of Veterinary Medicine, Wire Road).

The Libraries, a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), has a collection of more than 2.6 million volumes and a current library materials budget of nearly four million dollars. The Endeavor Voyager integrated automated system is used and referred to as AUBIECat. With the exception of Federal depository publications which are arranged by SuDocs classification system, books are classified by the Library of Congress (LC) system and are arranged in open stacks by subject.

Auburn University Libraries utilizes its human resources, technology, and physical facilities to provide responsive library services and collections in support of the instructional, research, and outreach activities of the students, faculty, and staff of Auburn University.
