SciFinder Scholar ... Getting Started

What is SciFinder Scholar?

You can use SciFinder Scholar from many locations, but SciFinder Scholar must be installed on your computer. VPN software is also needed to use SciFinder Scholar via AU Wireless or from off-campus.

Use SciFinder Scholar in ...
	RBD Library
	OIT Computer Labs
	Campus offices => Need to install software for SciFinder Scholar
	AU Wireless => Need to install software for SciFinder Scholar & VPN
	Off-campus => Need to install software for SciFinder Scholar & VPN

 

The SciFinder Scholar Agreement Page has a link to software for SciFinder Scholar. This software must be installed on your computer before you can use SciFinder Scholar. If you run into problems installing, using, or connecting to SciFinder Scholar, please contact Bob Buchanan.

To use SciFinder Scholar using AU Wireless or from off-campus, you need to also install VPN software.

Using SciFinder Scholar in different locations

RBD Library or OIT Computer Lab

From the Start Menu, select Programs, then SciFinder Scholar, and finally SciFinder Scholar one more time.

On-campus Computers or AU Wireless

You must first download and install SciFinder Scholar software for either the Windows and Macintosh operating systems on to your computer.

If you logged on via AU Wireless, you will need to install VPN software so that you can establish a VPN connection. SciFinder Scholar on AU Wireless is just like you are "off-campus".

Off-campus Computers

In addition to installing SciFinder Scholar software for either the Windows and Macintosh operating systems on to your computer, you must also install VPN software.
