Library Exhibits: Desegregation at Auburn University
In celebration of Auburn University’s 150th. anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2006, the Special Collections and Archives Department has mounted several exhibits pertaining to Auburn’s history.
The three glass cases located on the north side (facing Samford Hall) feature three exhibits. The middle case features “Desegregation at Auburn University” and features photographs, newspaper clippings, and more starting with the arrival of Harold Franklin, Auburn’s first African American student, in 1964.
The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

In celebration of Auburn University’s 150th. anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2006, the Special Collections and Archives Department has mounted several exhibits pertaining to Auburn’s history.
The three glass cases located on the north side (facing Samford Hall) feature three exhibits. One case features photographs, memorabilia, and other information about sports and Auburn student traditions such as having freshmen wear “rat” caps.
The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Seminars for Auburn University faculty and graduate students are being taught by librarians during the Spring Semester. Topics currently scheduled include:
EndNote (Citation Software): March 23 (two sessions), April 19, and May 23
Assessing Journal Quality: April 21 and April 24
All seminars are free but advance registration is required. This link is also found by clicking on the Site Index link located in the lower righthand side of the A.U. Libraries homepage. To sign up for seminars, it will be necessary for you to create an account. Just click on the Signup link and follow the easy instructions.
Once you have created your account it is easy to go back and view the seminar schedule, descriptions, and to register for a class.

In celebration of Auburn University’s 150th. anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2006, the Special Collections and Archives Department has mounted several exhibits pertaining to Auburn’s history.
“Presidents of Auburn University” features numerous publications, photographs, and informative captions about all of the presidents and interim presidents starting with Rev. William J. Sasnett (1859-1861) through Dr. Ed Richardson (2004- ).
This exhibit is located in the five flat cases on the west side (facing the Hotel and Conference Center) of the Special Collections and Archives Department on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

In celebration of Auburn University’s 150th. anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2006, the Special Collections and Archives Department has mounted several exhibits pertaining to Auburn’s history.
The three glass cases located on the north side (facing Samford Hall) feature three exhibits. One case features “Co-Eds at Auburn.” Fascinating photographs and informative captions tell the story of the arrival of female students at Auburn in 1892.

In celebration of Auburn University’s 150th. anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2006, the Special Collections and Archives Department has mounted several exhibits pertaining to Auburn’s history.
“Through the Years in Auburn History” features numerous photographs, manuscript texts, founding documents, and pamphlets relating to the early days of Auburn, for example, the establishment of the East Alabama Male College in 1856 including information about the first Board of Trustees.
This exhibit is located in the three large glass cases immediately to one’s left upon entering the Special Collections and Archives Department on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

A new library instruction lab has been opened on the Third Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library bringing the total to three instruction labs (the others are located on the First Floor and the Second Floor).
Incorporating state-of-the-art equipment, this lab will allow the Reference Department to schedule in more classes to better meet the need for library instruction sessions.
Please note: these labs are intended purely for instructional use and are not open to the general public. Library patrons are encouraged to use the numerous public-access terminals located on every floor as well as the Internet Cafe located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.
