Library Exhibit: Early Alabama Forts

Located in the three glass cases on the north side of the Special Collections and Archives Department facing Samford Hall, is a display on early Alabama forts.  The exhibit features numerous documents including books, maps, and captions with information about early Alabama forts such as Fort Morgan, Fort Toulouse, and Fort Mims, to name a few.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Library Exhibit on Creek Indians

Located in the three large glass exhibit cases immediately on one’s left upon entering the Special Collections and Archives Department is a display on the Creek Indians.  The exhibit features numerous books, maps, photographs, and captions with information about Creek place names in Alabama, history, culture, language, and even recipes.  One exhibit case features genealogical information about the McIntosh family, a prominent Creek family.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Study Partners Summer Study Groups

Summer 2007 Study Partner Study Groups (tutoring) are meeting during the period May 21 – July 31 in the Study Partners Suite in Room 0176 on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Study Partners Individual Peer Tutoring is not available this Summer but will resume in the Fall.

The Study Partners tutoring service is sponsored by Academic Support, Educational Support Services, Office of Undergraduate Studies.

National Climatic Data Center Online Document Library

The National Climatic Data Center is part of the United States Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Environmental Sateliite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS).  NCDC is the world’s largest active archive of weather data.  The Online Document Library provides access to datasets and publications of the Center.

Please NOTE:  the six components of the National Climatic Data Center Online Document Library listed below can only be accessed via a password and require log-in assistance by the staff at the Reference Desk (Second Floor) or Service Desk (First Floor) in the Ralph Brown Draughon Library:

Covering every First Lady from Martha Washington through Laura Bush, this is the Second Edition of this title.  It is edited by Robert P. Watson and located under call number E 176.2 .A4 2006 on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

EndNote Seminars

Seminars for faculty and graduate students in using EndNote citation management software are being offered during the Summer Semester and beyond.  Click on the Seminars link located in the middle of the A.U. Libraries homepage for registration information, etc.  Seminars are free but registration is required.  Please note:  it will be necessary to establish an account before registering (instructions are provided when clicking on the “Signup” link that shows up on the Seminars link web page).      

Currently, Endnote seminars are scheduled for the following dates:

This text-only version of ProQuest offers a variety of proprietary full text databases and popular databases from leading information providers that do not use JavaScript, frames, or cookies, thus making the retrieval of full-text documents available to visually disabled patrons using assistive technology unable to interpret PDF documents.  With the text-only version, the personalization feature may not be available, or only selected features may be provided.  Also, it is possible to link through to sites outside of ProQuest that are not text-only or JavaScript-free.  Those sites are responsible for the material they present, and whether you are able to access the information.

The Auburn University Libraries subscribe to 11 ProQuest databases from ABI/Inform to Dissertations and Theses to The Historical New York Times (1857-2003).
