Caribou Coffee House Open Oct. 26

The brand-new Caribou Coffee House, under construction in recent months, is scheduled to open on Monday, October 26.  Location:  on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library by the Mell Street entrance.

The Stacks Cafe, located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library since November 1999, has closed its doors.

New Books Relocated

The New Books shelves have been relocated again.  The mahogany-colored shelves are now located immediately upon one’s left when entering the Mell Street entrance of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.  The New Books shelves are conveniently located right next to the brand-new Caribou Coffee cafe.

Recycling Containers

Several recycling container units have been set up in the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.  Each unit consists of a separate receptacle for a) bottles and cans, b) paper, and c) trash.

Power Cords

To meet the growing need for patrons to plug in their laptop computers and other electronic equipment, the Ralph Brown Draughon Library has made available power cords for check-out at the Circulation Desk, located on the First Floor.

Eshbach’s Handbook of Engineering Fundamentals

Edited by Myer Kutz and published by Wiley in 2009, this is the Fifth Edition.  This large volume (1302 pages) is located in the Reference Collection on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library under call number TA 151 .E8 2009.

Voting Behavior 2008 Dataset

Voting Behavior:  The 2008 Election is an instructional module designed to offer students the opportunity to analyze a dataset drawn from the 2008 American National Election Study (ANES).  The instructional module is part of the Setups (Supplementary Empirical Teaching Units in Political Science) series and differs from previous modules in that it is completely online.

Available here via the ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research) database.  This database provides search and browsing access to abstracts and datasets in the world’s largest archive of computerized social science data.  Search or browse title of study, principal investigator, words in abstract, or study number.  Browse major research categories.

Book Shifting

In preparation for the construction of the Learning Commons area on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library, a major book shifting project is underway.

All of the volumes starting with Library of Congress call number letters A and B have been shifted from the Second Floor to the First Floor.  The volumes starting with Library of Congress call number letters C through GV will be shifted to a new location on the Second Floor.
