China Multi-Generational Panel Dataset, 1749-1909

This dataset is drawn from the population registers compiled by the Imperial Household Agency in Shengjing, currently the northeast Chinese province of Liaoning, between 1749 and 1909.  It provides 1,500,000 triennial observations of more than 250,000 residents of approximately 628 communities.

The data provide socioeconomic, demographic and other characteristics for individuals, households, and communities, and record demographic outcomes such as marriage, fertility, and mortality.  This dataset was recently added to the ICPSR .

The ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research) database provides search and browsing access to abstracts and datasets in the world's largest archive of computerized social science data.  Search or browse title of study, principal investigator, words in abstracts, or study number.  It is possible to browse major research categories.
