Spencer Thomas Bachus III graduated with a B.A. from Auburn University in 1969 and earned a J.D. from the University of Alabama Law School in 1972. He served in the Alabama Legislature from 1983 - 1987 and on the Alabama State Board of Education from 1987 - 1991. In 1992, he was elected to represent Alabama's 6th. Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Bachus retired at the end of the 113th. Congress in 2015 and donated his Congressional papers to the Auburn University Libraries.
