Shot in Alabama:  A History of Photography 1839-1941

Frances Osborn Robb

Date and Time:  Wednesday, April 19 at 3 p.m.

Location:  Ralph Brown Draughon Library, Ground Floor Auditorium

Presented chronologically - from the first photograph taken in the state to the appearance of cameras as ordinary possessions in mid-twentieth century households - this book closely examines a wide spectrum of vernacular photography:  Alabama-made photographs of everyday people and places, the photos that fill shoeboxes and dresser drawers, a vast array of images against which Alabama's more familiar iconography can be measured.

Reception and book signing to follow.
