The Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University and the Auburn University Libraries are hosting THATCamp Alabama in Auburn September 4 - 5.
THATCamp Alabama is a free "unconference" - a space to share skills and experiences with technology and humanities and brainstorm ways that we can work collaboratively on digital projects within our institutions and beyond. We are looking for technologists and humanists at all levels and hope to host a diverse group representing researchers, teachers, librarians, curators, archivists, and others. All participants plan an active role in setting the event agenda by proposing sessions that reflect their interests.

Over Two Decades in Congress: The Journey of a Lifetime: The Papers of Congressman Spencer Bachus

Spencer Thomas Bachus III graduated with a B.A. from Auburn University in 1969 and earned a J.D. from the University of Alabama Law School in 1972. He served in the Alabama Legislature from 1983 - 1987 and on the Alabama State Board of Education from 1987 - 1991. In 1992, he was elected to represent Alabama's 6th. Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Bachus retired at the end of the 113th. Congress in 2015 and donated his Congressional papers to the Auburn University Libraries.

The Reference Department together with staff members of the Miller Writing Center will be running the Information Oasis on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 on the Concourse at the corner of Tichenor Hall and Haley Center. Stop by for a cold bottle of water and pick up pens, bookmarks, and more with information about the Auburn University Libraries and the Miller Writing Center. Staff are on hand to provide information about these services and to help you with other information needs you may have.
The Information Oasis is in operation 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 17-18.
Be sure to check library hours of operation during Final Exams July 29 - 31 by clicking on the Hours link located in the top central section of the Auburn University Libraries homepage. Special hours will be in place also for July 27 - 28 for classes ending and for Study/Reading days. Intersession Hours will be in effect August 1 - 16.
The Caribou Coffee Café, located on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and 31st . Construction work is planned on the concrete slab to reseat and seal drain lines. Anticipated reopening for normal operations is expected for Monday, June 1.
