New York Times Online Available to Auburn Students, Faculty and Staff

Auburn University faculty, students and staff now have full complimentary access to the New York Times online (NYTimes.com) thanks to a university wide subscription that includes NYTimes mobile apps, international editions and archives.

The New York Times initiative supports the Auburn University 2013-2018 Strategic Plan’s emphasis on promoting student success, fostering inclusion and diversity, supporting active learning and promoting global awareness by providing access to the International, Chinese language and Spanish language editions of the daily publication, as well as providing access to the New York Times’ historical archives and educational resources for teaching faculty. The initiative is sponsored by the Ralph Brown Draughon Library and the Office of the Provost.

Workshops will be held spring semester of 2017 to assist faculty in learning about the pedagogical opportunities the subscription provides. Also in spring of 2017, additional online support for faculty will be available at the Biggio Center website at https://aub.ie/nyt.

NYTimes.com covers a variety of topics through breaking news articles, blogs, videos, opinion and interactive features. With the subscription, users will be able to share content on social networks, save articles of interest, subscribe to email newsletters and set up personalized alerts. Access to NYTimes.com is available from any location, on or off campus.

For instructions on how to create a New York Times user account; read highlights of some of the features available; and learn about some restrictions that apply, go to the Auburn University Libraries libguide link at http://libguides.auburn.edu/NYTimes for information.
