Historical or Biographical Sketch:
Bernie Eugine Prather was born in Waverly, Alabama in 1885 but also resided in Auburn. He attended local public schools and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1907. He worked at the school following his graduation but later accepted a position with the Allis Chalmers Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prather died in Milwaukee on January 14, 1935. He was buried at the Auburn cemetery a few days later.

Scope and Content:
Contains correspondence, photographs and sympathy cards relating to the life and death of Bernie Eugine Prather of Auburn, Alabama and later Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1928 to 1935. Consists of letters addressed to his daughters Marion Elaine and Edith Blanche Prather who were attending Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) at the time of his death. Includes photographs of members of the Prather and Letteer families and numerous notes of sympathy regarding his death on January 14, 1935.
