On May 21, 1970, several hundred students cut classes, spent
hours on the Haley Center concourse listening to anti-Vietnam War speakers,
then marched to ROTC headquarters at Broun Hall and signed a telegram of
protest to President Nixon. That night, about 1,500 students demonstrated
for women's rights. The quest for fewer dormitory restrictions on
coeds continued. In 1976, the Board of Trustees abolished all curfews
at women's dorms and authorized a plan for male visitations. -- Photo:
