Welcome to the Media and Digital Resource Lab / Innovation & Research Commons



The Media and Digital Resource Lab is renovating and converting to the Innovation & Research Commons. The Innovation & Research Commons (I&RC) is being developed to include research components and additional innovative learning spaces to support AU's teaching and research endeavors.

The mission of the Media and Digital Resource Laboratory (MDRL/I&RC) at RBD Library is to help Auburn University students, faculty, and staff create and use multimedia materials in their class assignments, projects, and academic research.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting June 29th 2020, RBD Library & MDRL is open, LADC, and VetMed — will be open by appointment only. Please see

We will still be providing the following services remotely:

  • Use our computers remotely at
  • Remote consultation on Adobe CC, GIS, audio, video, VR/AR setup, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and other projects: via e-mail, phone, chat, or Zoom.
  • Issuing ArcGIS Student Licenses: via e-mail.
  • Multimedia/Adobe CC instruction/meetings/consultations: via e-mail, phone, chat, or Zoom.
  • Captioned Multimedia/Adobe workshop recordings are also available through the “Help” section on the MDRL/I&RC Web site at

Located on the 1st floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library, the MDRL/I&RC provides the following to members of the Auburn University campus community with a valid OIT account:

  • Powerful, updated hardware and software including specialized design and video applications, peripherals and media available for use and checkout, and wide-format scanning and printing
  • Technical expertise of four full-time staff, each with unique experiences and range of skills
  • Additional support of student employees from a variety of academic areas

The staff and students in the MDRL/I&RC are committed to serving the multimedia technology project and research needs of Auburn University students and faculty in all academic disciplines. Ways to use the MDRL/I&RC:

  • Video and audio editing and production
  • Graphic design, web design, and print design
  • Audio and video conversion and image scanning

Our Adobe Creative Campus Resources page empowers students and faculty to use Adobe Creative Cloud to enhance classroom assignments, present research, and design and publish in print and online.
