The desk used by World War I flying ace, race car driver, and founder of Eastern Airlines, Eddie Rickenbacker (1890-1973) is now located in the Special Collections and Archives Department on the left hand side just past the three large glass exhibit cases upon entering.  The desk was acquired through the late Dr. W. David Lewis of the Auburn University History Department, who published Eddie Rickenbacker:  An American Hero in the Twentieth Century  in 2005 (Johns Hopkins University Press), and who was instrumental in acquiring the Eddie Rickenbacker Papers for the Auburn University Libraries.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.
