Following the successful opening of the Learning Commons on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library in early 2010, an additional study area is being opened on the First Floor in the Fall 2011 semester,

The  First Floor is being renovated for this new study area.    The map cases and microform cases have been moved into the Media and Digital Resources Lab to make room for the study area.  The MDRL and the former Service Desk staff have been combined to provide more convenient assistance to patrons using the microform and map collections, etc.

With 8600 square feet now available, plans are to install 400 new power sources, 16 group study area (available for four hours at a time), diner-style booths, L-shapted desk, couches and comfortable chairs.

Working with designers and the Student Advisory Council for Auburn Libraries, and with funding from EBSCO, the new First Floor study area of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library is underway.
