On September 24 a historical marker commemorating the 1964 desegregation of Auburn University was officially unveiled on the lawn located between the north side of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library and Mary Martin Hall.

Among those speaking was Harold Franklin, who arrived at the library on January 4, 1964, to register as the first African American student at Auburn.
