With the closure of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library from Dec. 10 through Jan. 7 for critical construction tasks on the Mell Classroom Building that will ensure its availability by fall semester 2017, the branch Library of Architecture, Design and Construction, or LADC, in Dudley Commons is set to take on the lion's share of the services normally performed at the main library. Everything from facilitating research across all subject specialties to providing study support will be available at what has traditionally been a special branch library.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to host a group of people who may never have visited our branch library before," said Kasia Leousis, head of the Library of Architecture, Design and Construction. "We completed a major renovation in 2013 with considerable input from the College of Architecture, Design and Construction faculty and students. It's a wonderful facility that's perfect for research and study. I think that patrons who normally use RBD Library will be pleasantly surprised by the services we offer in a creative and intimate atmosphere."

In addition to its normal suite of services, the LADC will have its capabilities augmented by moving assets from the RBD Library to the LADC for the duration of the main library closure. Library users may also request that specific materials be moved to the LADC before RBD Library closes so that they will be available for use during the closure. Requests should be submitted through the online form at https://www.lib.auburn.edu/jcourier/  and should indicate in the comments section that the materials are going to the LADC.

The LADC offers comfortable seating and many study resources, such as public computers, printers and copiers. Reflecting the aesthetics of is hosting college, the styling of the LADC is markedly different from the other libraries on campus but still provides the same quality of service that AU Libraries users have become accustomed to receiving.
