Currently on display are 13 large, framed, color photographs in an exhibit titled Photographs of Honduras by Paul Wingler.  The photos are on loan to Auburn University from the Counsel General of Honduras, Emelia Callejas.

This exhibit is located on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library next to the dark wood walls of the Reference Department.

Currently on display in the Special Collections and Archives Department is an exhibit on a local labor union.  The exhibit, located in the two flat display cases immediately upon one's left when entering the department features photographs, memorabilia including clothing, and informative captions concerning United Steelworkers Local 753L.  The first display case also covers the U.S. Rubber Tire Plant (also known as Uniroyal Goodrich) in Opelika which closed in 2009; the second case profiles union leaders in Local 753L and strikes.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Auburn University will join hundreds of colleges, universities, libraries and other organizations throughout the nation at the 23rd. annual National African American Read-In.  Volunteer readers share excerpts from their favorite African American Literature in a celebration of African American history.

Date and Time:  Monday, February 6 at 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location:  Ralph Brown Draughon Library - Mell Street Entrance.

The Read-In is free and open to the public.  All are welcome.

Reading selections will also be available on site.  Readers and performers of all ages are welcome.  Readers are needed for this year's program.

On Saturday, January 7, at 3 p.m., the Special Collections and Archives Department will host a panel discussion on the life of Dr. George Washington Carver, the renowned scientist, teacher, and humanitarian of Tuskegee University.

Mark Hersey of Mississippi State University and Gary Kramer of the State Historical Society of Missouri, both Carver biographers, will serve on the panel, along with Dana Chandler, archivist at Tuskegee University.

Auburn University, Tuskegee University, the National Park Service, and Eastern National partnered to sponsor this program, which is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.
