Located in the three upright glass exhibit cases on the north side (facing Samford Hall) of the Special Collections and Archives Department is an exhibit about gardening.  The exhibit features numerous colorful books, maps, almanacs, magazines, and other publications concerning vegetable and flower gardening with a focus on Alabama and the South.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Located in the three large glass display cases immediately upon one's left when entering the Special Collections and Archives Department is an exhibit concerning The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and other works by Mark Twain.

The exhibit contains editions of Mark Twain's works including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Innocents Abroad, and other titles plus illustrations, informative captions, theses, and more.

The exhibit also celebrates The Big Read:  The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum of Library Services and Arts Midwest.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

An exhibit featuring Dean Katherine Cater is currently on display in the Special Collections and Archives Department of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library. 

Katherine Cater (1914-1980) served as Dean of Women and Dean of Student Life at Auburn University from 1946-1980.  The exhibit, located in the five flat glass display cases on the east side of the Special Collections and Archives Department, features numerous photographs, biographical informational captions, plus a variety of manuscripts and publications connected to female student life at Auburn such as a pamphlet titled Co-Etiquette, and a booklet providing guidelines for what to wear and when.  The exhibit also features photographs and information about Cater Hall, the former President's Mansion, built in 1913.

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the Ground Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

Construction work is proceeding rapidly on the Second Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.  The Learning Commons area, featuring greatly expanded study areas with a major increase in electrical outlets for laptop computers, etc., is nearly complete.  Also to be located in the Learning Commons will be offices for the Jack Miller Writing Center, the Study Partners tutoring service, and the Office of Information Technology.  New wood-paneled offices have been constructed for a centralized Reference Department as well.  Over the holidays, new carpeting was installed in Second Floor office areas and on the Third Floor.
