OregonPDF in Health & Human Performance

This database collects and indexes graduate research studies (master's theses and doctoral dissertations) in physical activity, dance, play, sport, athletics and movement of individuals with disabilities.  It includes research from biomechanics, motor control and development, sports medicine, measurement and kinanthropometry and related fields, available on microfiche and in electronic format.

Coverage is from 1948 onward with over 10,000 dissertations and theses currently available.

Many of these documents covering the period 1950-2007 are also available in the Physical Education Microfiche Collection located on the First Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.

International Abstracts in Operations Research provides access to more than 59,000 articles published from 1989 to the present.  Covering fields from operations research to management science and all the subfields contained therein.  Searches may be done by keywords, journal information, or author name.  While some records contain links to full-text, most do not.

The corresponding print edition of this resource is available for the years 1961-2007 on the Fourth Floor of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library under call number Q 500 .I5.

Recently added to the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) database is the data set, "Pandemic Economics:  the 1918 Influenza and its Modern-Day Implications" (no. 22680).

The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research, also known as ICPSR, provides search and browsing access to abstracts and data sets in the world's largest archive of computerized social science data.  Search or browse title of study, principal investigator, words in the abstract, or study number.  Browse major research categories.

Blackwell Synergy E-Journals Move to Wiley InterScience

Electronic access to journals published by Blackwell formerly available via the Synergy database, have now been transferred to the Wiley InterScience database.  1400 journals with 3,000,000 articles are affected.  This course of action is needed to prepare for the new combined Wiley-Blackwell service that will appear in 2009.

GreenFILE

A searchable database covering all aspects of human impact on the environment.  Scholarly, governmental, and general-interest titles dating back to the 1970's include content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done on each level to minimize negative impact.

Topics include global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.  GreenFILE is multidisciplinary and draws on the connections between the environment and a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health, and technology.  The database contains 384,000 records including 4700 full-text articles.

Britannica Spanish Reference Center

This online resource offers two Spanish-language encyclopedias.  For high school ages and up, Gran Enciclopedia Planeta is a comprehensive encyclopedia with 145,000 articles, along with timelines, an atlas, and a dictionary.  Enciclopedia Juvenil is designed for elementary and junior high ages, and includes learning materials, images, and videos.
